The most important part of a magazine is its cover. Its what draws the buyer in; makes them choose People over Insider. Whole photo shoots and huge budgets are dedicated to the cover, and a good one can boost sales significantly. Here's our picks for the best covers of July 2017.

5. Harper's Bazaar [Australia]

Harper's Bazaar Australia (July 2017)

Elle Macpherson shines on this cover wearing a beautiful, 60's reminiscent maxi dress with a gold and orange floral pattern. The text colors incorporate the warmth created by her photo and inspire a strong feeling of summer beginning to fade into fall. That, mixed with some stellar font choices invites the reader to grab themselves a copy and earns Harper's Bazaar our number five slot.

4. Time Magazine

Time July 2017

Time is known for its beautiful covers, and this is no exception. It's entirely simplistic, yet somehow conveys more information than most would think could fit on one picture. The subtle color scheme doesn't overwhelm the eye which gives the brain the ability to easily read the subtext. We love it.

3. WSJ.

WSJ

The Wall Street Journal once again blows us all away with a stunning cover featuring Sofia Coppala. It's a glamorous shot, and certainly gives off an elegant 30's vibe. And, unlike a typical cover, it's not covered in article titles that distract the reader from the photograph. Unique covers like this are what drive the industry forward.

2. W Magazine

W Magazine

A stunning color scheme, a stunning model, and a stunning layout are just a few of the breathtaking aspects of this cover that makes it stand apart. Natalia Vodianova is modeling a 60's inspired look and making it look modern. W made the right choice of letting her photo dominate the cover and let the text be pushed to the back. Anyone who might catch a glimpse of this cover will just have to give it a second look and that's what gives W its number 2 slot.

1. Vogue

Is anybody surprised? Not only does Vogue make use of a beautifully simple layout and color scheme, they went ahead and featured one of the most famous women of the year. Zendaya is everywhere right now, and nothing makes magazines fly off the shelves like a recognizably beautiful face. Three cheers for Vogue, this cover, and (of course) Zendaya. There's no doubt in our minds it is the best cover of the month.
